I’m a bit late to the party when it comes to using a rotary cutter for cutting out. It is a real game changer as long as you have a sharp blade its a doddle. If you are yet to try it, I highly recommend it. I was slightly worried about veering off and making a mess of the fabric but I had nothing to worry about. I just took it slowly and it worked out fine (phew). I don’t think I will ever go back to scissors!
I know this pattern off by heart now and do not need to follow the instructions. The Coco is a quick satisfying sew and I have lost count of how many I have. I use the lightning bolt stitch on my machine to sew with knit fabrics and the 3 step zig zag stitch to hem the cuffs and the hem of the dress. I’m yet to try out my twin needle.
The fabric feels so soft against your skin, real life secret pyjamas.
With my previous Coco dresses I have used ponte roma fabric, I do wish I had graded up to a bigger size at the hips for this one as the jersey clings a little to the places I would rather it didn’t! Oh well, I will know for next time. To get more wear out of this I may cut it and turn it into a top but before I change anything I always like to wear it a few times first as I can often change my mind about it.
I love the pattern on this jersey, I think it makes the dress look a little on the smarter side.
Thanks for reading and happy sewing!
