Every year, I like to make a Christmas dress. And as my birthday is on 2nd Dec, whatever I make has to be wearable for my birthday, my work Christmas party, and of course the big day itself.
I know that red is the classic Xmas colour, but I thought I'd break with tradition a little bit and go for purple. It's not a shade I usually wear, but I love how subtle and luxurious this shade of crepe fabric is. It's very matt and muted.

This fabric is probably my favourite yet from Minerva. It's a gorgeous, heavy, mossy crepe. Absolutely beautiful to sew with.

It drapes beautifully and feels very 70s, in the best kind of way. It would be perfect for an Ossie Clark style dress.

The pattern is New Look 6070. I think the solid colour shows off the asymmetric pleating really well.
Not much else to say about this dress except that you should buy this fabric. It comes in a huge variety of colours, and it's very forgiving to fit as the crepe has a slight stretch to it. So this is the perfect dress for eating a Christmas dinner in!
