If you remember my Minerva Crafts blog post from October, you already know that I tried one of the maternity patterns from Sew Over It, that were released this autumn. I loved it so much and I’ve worn it lots, so I decided to try the other pattern of the range, the Blossom Top, for my December blog post.

I wanted to make it in a similar colorway like the one Lisa was wearing in her photoshoot, so I searched the Minerva Crafts website to find something as close as possible! When I saw this Atelier Brunette Viscose Fabric, I knew they were going to be the perfect match! And thankfully, I was right!

This fabric is soooo soft and its quality is amazing! I washed it three times already and it still looks as good as the first day! It pressed really well, something I find really important for precise sewing and it was easy to work with.

For my top, I opted for a size 10, which is my usual size for Sew Over It patterns and I made no alterations at all. The top is lower at the front, a feature very important for pregnant ladies to accommodate the bump, but I think it also looks good on me, even though I’m not pregnant. I like wearing it with skinny trousers, so having that extra fabric around my tummy is always nice, for those days when I’m feeling a bit bloated.

The top has an empire line waist, which I actually love and there is a channel for elastic there to gather it and make it more fitted under the bust.

As for the construction, everything is pretty straightforward and I had no problems at all! The instructions are very well written and there are lots of photos for some extra help!

I think I’m going to get lots of wear out of this top, although I’ll have to wear a cardigan over it because it’s freezing lately here in Greece! I hope you like it!

Me and my little girl send you the warmest wishes for the holidays and hope you have a lovely Christmas!
