Hi pinups! After taking a break from the network in May, I'm back with a super sassy make for June. If you follow my blog, you'll know I've already sewn a version of the Butterick Patterns by Gertie B6453 dress. I've tried the full skirted version, but for June's Minerva Crafts Blogger Network make, I've opted to jump out of my comfort zone and try the fitted pencil skirt version instead (eek).

Here's a peek at the pattern:

I love Gertie's own version of the fitted dress on the pattern's envelope and it had me lusting after that fabulous royal blue colour. So I searched the Minerva Crafts website for a similar fabric. As my two other upcoming makes for the network are floral, I instead opted for this cute ditsy bow print Cotton Fabric. In person the fabric certainly didn't disappoint and now I need more blue in my wardrobe!

I really love this pattern, I can't even think of anything bad to say about it! Other than a small full bust adjustment (details in my video here), I found it a total joy to sew.

The pattern is simple and straightforward to follow, using a facing instead of a full lining certainly keeps the sewing short and sweet. I spent about an afternoon on the fitted version and I love that it doesn't take up too much time to make.

With my full bust adjustment, I'm really happy with the fit of this dress. I don't have many totally fitted garments in my wardrobe, so I wasn't sure how self conscious I was going to feel in this finished dress. Whilst it takes a little getting used to, I absolutely love it and it makes me feel like Jayne Mansfield! Mission accomplished.

Go 'Behind The Seams' of the B6453 pattern in my latest video!

Overall, I'm really happy with my fitted version of the B6453 dress. I'm glad I ventured out of my sewing and style comfort zone

Thanks for reading, pinups!
