The Girl with the Dragon... Dress!

Hello lovely crafting people! Have you got your dosage of the sun yet? I really hope you have gotten a breather and enjoyed this nice weather. I’m currently on holiday at my parents and it’s so lovely here, beach and sun! It such a difference to have whole days off rather than just the evenings.
For this months post I have chosen to work with this incredibly vibrant dragon and flower print Linen and Cotton Fabric. I was so drawn to the fabric, the colours the motives, everything was so beautiful! But I was unsure if it would actually fit me and my style, but who cares! I like!
Linen is the all time summer fabric, it is cool and breezy, but the really big downside is that it wrinkles if your just look at it. The good thing about this fabric is that it is a linen cotton blend, 55 % linen and 45 % cotton, this combo makes the fabric really soft and doesn’t wrinkle as easily. Perfect!
The print of the fabric is so colourful, and very Asia inspired. I especially like the gold dragons (some will say Asian dragons, but I grew up knowing this was what a dragon was). The hawaiian flowers in bright pink and orange really pops up from the royal blue background of the fabric. There’s also these pagodas all around giving it a really Asian vibe.
For this fabric I made the pattern Marta dress from Schnittchen patterns. I’ve been wanting to make this dress for a while, but never made it a priority, so now was my chance to make this amazing summer dress pattern.
I really like the silhouette in the pattern. Bra cup bodice, midriff, panelled flared skirt and pockets. It was really easy to sew up this combo of fabric and pattern. Although I did have some problems with the pattern.
I think the bra cups are too small for me, so I need to make it bigger if I’m going to make it again, any idea on how to do that? Please let me know! And I wish the pockets where a bit deeper, but that one is an easy fix. All in all the dress is much wearable and the cup-issue isn’t that visible.
Last week I celebrated my first wedding anniversary with my husband wearing my new dress, and yes, he did have to take the pictures of me even on holiday. We’ve been together for 11 years, and married for one. I’m glad my new dress got to take part in the celebration!
